I converted this basement to a beautiful apartment in a style that blends with the existing house. There are many reasons to create an extra livng space on your property. As well as a place for aging parents, grown children, care-givers and guests, an extra apartment will add value to your house.
Sometimes all you need is a little updating to make your home a place where you want to relax and entertain.
Both of these fireplaces dated to the 70’s and made the rooms look old as well. I designed and constructed the mantles and surround, and installed the TV. The family room was dark with fake beams and barnboard. We added windows and updated trim to give it a bright and classic style.
We rebuilt and trimmed this garage to match the classic Vitorian style house. The arbor and gable end trim are in the style called Carpenter Gothic. American builders would make trim as best they could using the simple tools available to them.
The family coat closet is not the most attractive feature of most houses. But could it look better? And be a bit more functional? What else could you do with this new space?
